FAQWhat is the process to order a custom piece?
Price and timing will be quoted for each new commission. The price is based on the size and complexity of the design as well as the glass selection including bevels and crystals. If you are interested in having me do a custom piece for you use the Request Quote/Contact page. If you are local to Corvallis, Oregon, I would be happy to show you examples of my work as well as my studio. Take a look at the gallery of work to get ideas for a custom piece or to select a specific piece.
Can all your pieces be shipped?
All pieces except the garden bench are able to be shipped. The client pays the shipping cost for UPS ground transportation. The garden bench is cost-prohibitive for shipping.
How do I care for my copper foil piece?
DO NOT USE AN AMMONIA BASED GLASS CLEANER (like Windex). Use a soft cloth to dust. If dusting is not sufficient, use a moistened (not dripping) soft cloth to wipe the dirt from the surface. If the piece is exposed to grease or cigarette smoke, once a year apply a thin film of glass wax or car wax, let dry and buff to a brilliant shine
Can I leave my concrete imbedded piece outside year-round?
The concrete bench and stepping stones placed on the ground should be fine due to sealers used. If you have your stepping stone in a table base (wrought iron for example), I encourage you to cover it or move it to a protected location.
What is the difference between copper foil and lead-wrapped?
An adhesive copper foil is adhered to the edges of a copper foil piece. A bead of lead/zinc solder is applied over the exposed copper foil creating leadlines. The piece is soldered on both sides to create strength. Copper foil pieces usually have a patina applied and 2 coats of glass polish. For lead-wrapped, individual pieces of glass are wrapped in a soft U shaped lead came being held to the individual glass piece with a touch of solder. The individual pieces are then soldered together to create the overall piece. Lead-wrapped pieces are normally electroplated with a nickel finish to prevent the lead from tarnishing and to create a brilliant finish.
How do you calculate shipping and handling?
I ship using UPS ground. Many pieces are fragile and require double boxing to ensure it arrives safely. The handling charges are based on the estimated cost of boxes and packing material. The shipping is estimated based on weight and size of package using the UPS website.
How do I pay for my purchase?
Personal checks, money orders, MasterCard, Visa and Discover are accepted for purchases. Propay is the service I use to process credit cards. An email invoice would be sent to your email supplying you with a secure link to provide your credit card information. No credit card information is ever exchanged in an email.
When do I pay for my purchase?
I require a 50% deposit on all one of a kind custom pieces prior to starting on the piece. The remaining 50% plus the shipping and handling are due prior to shipping. I email you the UPS tracking information on the day that it is sent.
